The Senior Designer will use computer-based tools to design parts and assemblies, create production drawings, and manage BOMs for small, medium, and large projects. The Senior Designer will also originate, develop, or modify product designs from conception to finished manufacturing documentation assuring quality, manufacturability, functionality, serviceability, and cost has been considered.Come be a part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive our every endeavor!Location: Plymouth, MN or Staunton, VA - OnsiteWhat you will do:Create engineering documentation, including SolidWorks, modeling, fabrication, and purchase drawings that conform to Daikin standardsApply tolerances and use GD&T tools to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturing requirementsTranslate engineering/marketing intent into manufacturing documentationWork with Marketing/Sales to provide documentation for original designs or custom modifications of current products to meet weekly production schedulesExhibit a sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skillsDemonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost-effectivenessComplete work assignments within a determined time frame and use judgment in deciding assignment goalsGain knowledge of design and manufacturing practices, processes, and Daikin productsDemonstrate an understanding of legacy bill of material systems and product structuring logicBe part of and function in a team environment, including cross-functional and inter-departmental teamsManage mid-level design projectsReview junior designers work and train other designers to perform their workWhat's in it for you:Medical/Dental/Vision coverage, PTO, 401K match, support for community involvement and much moreThe ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growthThe support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our bestMinimum Qualifications:Vocational or Technical Degree or Associate's degree in Design/Drafting5 years of relevant experienceExperience with machinery component design and/or HVAC productsAdvanced CAD proficiency, basic understanding of tolerances, materials, and manufacturing constraintsSolidWorks experienceAbility to create moderately complex parts and assemblies, interpreting technical specifications and applying GD&TAbility to travel up to 10% of the timeWork visa sponsorship is not available for this positionPreferred Qualifications:10 years of relevant experienceBenefits:Daikin Applied offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements:Multiple medical insurance plan options + dental and vision insurance401K retirement plan with employer contributions matching 100% of the first 3% of employee contributions and 50% on the next 2% of employee contributionsCompany provided life insurance + optional employee-paid voluntary life insurance, dependent life coverage, and voluntary accident coverageShort-term and long-term disability3 weeks of paid time off for new employees + 11 company-paid holidaysVacation accrues on a monthly basis, unless applicable federal, state, and local law requires a faster accrualPaid sick time in accordance with the federal, state, and local lawPaid parental leave and tuition reimbursement after 6 months of continuous serviceThe typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $31.73-56.35 in Minnesota and Virginia.
