Vacancy at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust Key responsibilities for the Consultant Post include:Main Duties of the Consultant PostSpecialist consultation, assessment, formulation, and intervention for young people with complex needs and high‑risk forensic behaviours across community, residential, custodial and secure settings.Consistent, flexible provision across the region, regardless of a young person’s placement or location.Joint working with CAMHS, learning disability and autism services, and other children’s services to support the management of complex, high‑risk cases.Delivery of evidence‑based assessment and intervention throughout the care pathway, including support with transitions into and out of secure services.Clear, needs‑led recommendations on placement, ensuring secure inpatient admission only when clinically indicated.Embedding safeguarding principles and promoting developmental, relational and family‑inclusive approaches.Supporting CETRs and aligning with Transforming Care for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism.Enhancing local provision through specialist formulation, risk assessment expertise and strategic advice.Identifying gaps in provision and contributing to service development and system improvement.Providing multi‑agency training on working with high‑risk young people, risk assessment and management, and the interface between key legislative frameworks (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Children Act, Education Act, SEND reforms, Youth Justice).Key ResponsibilitiesBe an active participant and leader in the team.Ensure clinical audit of the service and implementation of appropriate assessment tools and outcome measures as an integral part of the service, contributing to quality‑improvement initiatives.Participate and engage with service development and wider Trust development initiatives.Provide evidence‑based interventions for patients under their care and support the management of the service according to Trust policies and NICE standards.Liaise promptly with networks to ensure high‑quality, well‑coordinated care.Complete administrative tasks associated with the care of patients in a timely manner, including accurate recording of clinical activity and ensuring that relevant KPIs, clustering and CQUIN requirements are fulfilled.Share responsibility for and actively participate in the provision of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with consultant colleagues, contributing to the teaching, supervision and training of staff of other disciplines.Provide clinical supervision to junior doctors as necessary.Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council and approval under the Mental Health Act Section 12(2), abiding by professional codes of conduct.Comply with the Trust’s policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and take an active role in the financial management of the service, supporting the clinical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.Offer supervision to other members, both medical and non‑medical.Travel between Trust sites will be expected where required to facilitate the delivery of the role.ManagementBe responsible for playing a full part in the management and further clinical development of services, contributing fully to service development.Participate in developing policies and ways of working in collaboration with other agencies.Contribute to clinical governance within the team by responding to formal and informal complaints, SUI and SIR investigations, and sharing learning from the same.Regularly attend local consultants’ meetings and other relevant service‑management meetings.Participate in various committees and project teams to support the advancement of clinical care and quality improvement.As an equal‑opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under‑represented groups including people with long‑term conditions and members of ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ communities.Regrettably, we cannot offer sponsorship for all our job roles.This advert closes on Thursday 14 May 2026.#J-18808-Ljbffr
