Pre-Press Operator Location: Peterborough Salary: 30,000 35,000 per annum Hours: Monday Thursday: 08:30 17:00 Friday: 08:30 15:00 About the Role Do you enjoy working as part of a creative, fast-paced team to deliver high-quality print work? Are you accurate, detail-driven, and keen to develop your skills within pre-press? If so, wed love to hear from you. We are looking for a Pre-Press Operator to join our studio team, working closely with Artwork, CAD, and Print departments. This role focuses on preparing supplied artwork files for print production, ensuring accuracy, quality, and consistency throughout the pre-press process. Please note: this is not a graphic design role. Key Responsibilities Preparing supplied design files for print using Esko software , converting artwork into press-compatible formats Making copy and artwork amendments as requested by clients Creating proofs, laydowns, and files for samples using established workflows Preparing files for RIP and generating proof sheets in line with work orders Producing reprographic printing plates for lithographic B1 presses Ensuring CAD markings are correctly applied to artwork Liaising with customers via email and telephone regarding artwork and proof approvals Working with a wide range of media and cutters, ensuring correct setup and specifications Proofreading to ensure all artwork is accurate and of the highest quality Maintaining quality checks, documentation standards, and secure file storage Supporting the CAD and Pre-Press departments, including holiday cover Following all health and safety procedures at all times Managing deadlines effectively in a high-pace studio environment Skills & Experience Required Previous print or pre-press experience (essential) High attention to detail and accuracy Confident communicator, able to work with customers, suppliers, and internal teams Ability to understand technical print information and workflows Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) Experience working on a Mac operating system Knowledge of Esko software is advantageous but not essential (training provided) Good organisational and time-management skills Working knowledge of MS Office , particularly Outlook Proficient in written and spoken English Willingness to learn new skills and follow processes and instructions Flexible, professional, and a strong team player Qualifications Good general education NVQ Level 3 or equivalent practical experience What We Offer Competitive salary of 30,000 35,000 Early finish on Fridays Training on software and machinery Supportive studio environment within a skilled and collaborative team If you have experience in print or pre-press and are looking for your next step in a stable, well-organised studio environment, wed love to hear from you.
