We're looking for a proactive and commercially focused Management Accountant to join our Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Finance Team. Acting as a key business partner to our Plant Operations and Engineering teams, you'll provide critical financial insight that supports efficient manufacturing performance, drives continuous improvement, and strengthens our financial controls. This is a 6 month FTC on a part time basis of around 24 to 30-hours per week, of which 2/3-days per week on-site with 1-day Hybrid working. There will be some requirements to travel, especially in the first few months whilst familiarising yourself with the business and the role, at times you'll also be required to travel to our HQ in Scarborough, North Yorkshire at time. What you'll be doing In this varied and influential role, you will: Act as a Finance Business Partner to Plant Managers and Engineering teams, providing insight and challenge. Attend regular plant performance and review meetings, offering financial support and recommendations. Prepare and analyse financial and management information for the manufacturing plants. Lead plant month-end close activities, including cost and variance analysis and performance interpretation. Produce routine management reports and deliver total delivered cost conclusions vs. standards and forecasts. Report weekly risks and opportunities across plants, highlighting required mitigation actions. Validate and assess capital investment proposals and cost-saving initiatives. Suggest improvements to financial controls and contribute to streamlining reporting processes. Support quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting cycles. Deliver ad hoc financial analysis for manufacturing projects and capital expenditure. Leadership Principles. Our principles, each with related practices, guide our actions across the organisation. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manufacturing Business Partner / Director of Finance for Manufacturing, you'll be part of a small Finance and plant team and will demonstrate your flexible and challenging and dynamic approach and mindset. You'll also: Be flexible and challenging in your approach working with a small Finance Team Responsible for the completion of weekly financial statements, closing month end reports, and reporting results, in a clear and easily understandable format for the wider plant team. Complete detailed Annual Budgets including both financial and operational metrics. Responsible for quarterly reforecasting of usage and rate variances for ingredients, labour and energy etc. Complete Overhead Analysis and Account Reconciliations Have regular Financial Performance Reviews with Operational Teams Create costing of New Product Developments with the wider plant teams Attend Plant Operational Reviews You'll be able to demonstrate a challenging and supportive mindset to think big and plan ahead, with the ability to demonstrate our leadership principles with how you are supportive, can challenge and can see the bigger picture to enable supporting the leadership and wider team. You'll also demonstrate your ability to be able to explain financial forecasting and numbers using non-financial language. Qualifications & Skills: Essential: Qualified by Experience or working towards/completed CIMA (or equivalent). Ideally a background in manufacturing and a fast-paced environment. Comfortable working across departments, with confident communication skills to both financial and operational teams Systems knowledge of SAP with integrated Standard Costing or similar system experience Proficient in Microsoft Office. Proven ability to implement effective financial controls. Strong business partnering skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and collaboratively. Strong ability to work effectively with internal customers and stakeholders. Comfortable working within a matrix reporting environment. Experience analysing and reporting on financial performance. Able to analyse, understand, interpret and present financial results to various levels across the business. Location. You'll be either based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. If you've spotted our three wind turbines, then you'll know where we are! With about 400 employees on site, we're one of our largest plants across the GB business. Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries. Or you could be based at our Wombourne plant in Staffordshire. And together our small, but perfectly formed team of over 110 colleagues produce our famous (and well loved) potato Smiles as well as our pre-baked Jacket Spuds and hash browns.
