Job Description Specialist Vehicle Technical TrainerPeterborough 39k pa The RoleThis isnt your typical stand at the front and read slides training job.This is for someone who actually gets the machinery, understands how it works, and can explain it in a way that lands - whether thats with engineers, operators or customers.Youll be the go-to technical trainer, helping people genuinely understand complex equipment (not just nod along politely). Youll build training programmes, deliver them, improve them, and make sure people walk away knowing what theyre doing - not guessing.If you like being the person others rely on for answers, this will suit you.What Youll Be DoingDelivering technical training on machinery operation, maintenance and repairCreating training materials - presentations, manuals, e-learning contentWorking closely with management to shape training plans and objectivesBecoming the subject matter expert in digital systems, logic and telematicsScheduling and delivering training sessions in line with business needsKeeping training content up to date with product changes and innovationsRecording training activity and issuing certificationsSupporting warranty processes from a technical standpointCoordinating external training (CPC, statutory, specialist courses)Providing technical advice to both internal teams and customersSupporting product recalls and modification programmesContinuously improving how training is delivered (not just sticking to how its always been done)What Youll NeedA solid technical background - ideally in specialist vehicles, plant, or agricultural equipmentStrong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systemsHands-on experience with diagnostics, maintenance and repairExperience delivering training (operator through to technical level)Confidence creating structured training materials and documentationComfortable using Microsoft tools (PowerPoint will be your friend here)Ability to explain complex things simply - without overcomplicating itOrganised, structured, and able to manage multiple prioritiesA natural relationship builder - people trust you quicklyA figure it out attitude - not someone who waits to be told everythingFormal teaching/training qualifications are a bonus, not a dealbreakerWhat You Might Not LikeIts not a sit-back role - youll need to stay on top of product changes constantlyYoull be dealing with technical detail daily -if you prefer surface-level, this isnt itYoull need to adapt your style depending on your audience (operators vs engineers vs customers)Theres admin involved - training records, certifications, compliance (it matters, so it wont disappear)Youll be expected to challenge and improve things - not just follow the current process quietlyWhat To Do NextIf youre reading this thinking finally, something that actually uses my technical brain properly - we should talk.Apply, send your CV, or just reach out for a proper conversation.
