It's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.We currently have the following opportunity: We are looking for a solicitor to join the Property, Planning & Infrastructure Team in Council’s Legal and Governance Services. The team provides legal support across a wide range of functions including planning, estates, roads, housing, flood protection, environmental health, environmental services and community planning. The post is primarily to assist with contract and procurement work together with the team’s wider remit. The work includes the drafting and negotiation of contracts, some dispute resolution work and advising on a range of procurement issues. The Council has an experienced team of procurement professionals with who you will work closely on a wide range of projects. The Council also has an ambitious range of projects in its Capital Plan which you will assist in supporting. You will work closely with the team’s property solicitors and with our procurement officers. The post will also involve supporting the Council’s flood protection work, its role as the housing, roads, environmental health and planning authority. We operate a career grade structure for these posts. The successful applicant will be appointed to the relevant grade (either TL10 - Solicitor or TL11 – Senior Solicitor) based on skills and experience aligned to the career grade structure. Skills & Experience RequiredThis is an opportunity to join an experienced team of property, commercial and regulatory solicitors. You will be part of a supportive and dynamic team and service, which is committed to delivering high quality advice and support to clients. You will be expected to have some experience of contract work and preferably working either in-house or as part of a commercial legal team. Some commercial conveyancing experience would be welcome but not essential. We would welcome applicants interested in acquiring knowledge of, and experience in construction law. This could extend to post qualifying construction law accreditation, for which appropriate time and support would be provided. The Council is promoting an ambitious programme of construction work and projects from which practical experience could be gained. You will be professionally curious and able to think creatively to support clients. You must be able to demonstrate an ability to find solutions to problems. You will be able to work collaboratively and closely with those from other disciplines. You must be a qualified solicitor in Scotland, with a full, unrestricted practising certificate issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
