Job Description Design Manager Structural Steelwork Oxford, UK Permanent | Up to 60,000 + BenefitsAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Manager to join a well-established structural steelwork company delivering projects across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. This is a leadership role where youll be responsible for managing the design team, overseeing project delivery, and ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with fabrication and site requirements.This position requires strong experience within structural steelwork, with the ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on across design, coordination, and site engagement.What youll do: Lead and manage a team of designers and detailers Oversee the full design process from concept through to fabrication and erection Ensure all designs are practical, cost-effective, and buildable Carry out design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards and specifications Liaise with subcontractors, engineers, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle Provide technical support during fabrication and site installation Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure design intent is achieved Attend internal and external project meetings as requiredYoull need: Proven experience in a Design Manager or senior design role within structural steelwork Experience leading and developing design teams Strong understanding of steel fabrication, detailing, and erection processes Experience managing subcontractors and external stakeholders Proficiency in Tekla Structures Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong knowledge of UK standards and building regulations Excellent communication and problem-solving skillsWhy this role?
