Job Description About the RoleOldham College is seeking a Motor Vehicle Technician to provide hands-on technical and operational support within our automotive workshops. This is a practical, workshop-based role supporting tutors and learners during delivery of motor vehicle and automotive training programmes.You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, organised, and fully operational motor vehicle workshop, ensuring high standards of Health & Safety compliance while supporting learners to develop industry-relevant skills.This role is ideal for an experienced automotive technician who is passionate about education, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of motor vehicle professionals.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport automotive tutors and learners during practical workshop sessionsMaintain workshop vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment to a safe and operational standardEnsure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, including maintaining electronic risk assessments (Smartlog)Manage workshop resources, stock control, and ordering of parts and consumablesAssist with the preparation and organisation of practical teaching sessionsSupport the delivery of employability and work-readiness skills aligned with employer and awarding body requirementsPromote a clean, safe, and professional learning environment at all timesAbout YouYou will bring industry experience in motor vehicle or automotive environments, alongside strong organisational skills and a commitment to quality and safety.Essential requirements include:GCSE Maths and English (Grade 49) or equivalentIndustry qualifications to Level 2A relevant Health & Safety qualification or willingness to work towards oneExperience maintaining vehicles, machinery, and workshop equipmentExperience managing stock and workshop resourcesGood IT skills, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to prioritise workload and work flexibly, including evenings and SaturdaysDesirable:Experience coaching or mentoring young people or adultsExperience supporting learners with additional needs or low confidenceWHY JOIN USWe offer a supportive working environment with opportunities to develop and progress.
