Job Title: Stress AnalystLocation: Derby – 3 days per week in the officeRole Type: Contract – 12 months+Rate: £35.56 per hour – OUTSIDE IR35Our client, an established engineering consultancy operating in Derby, require an experienced Stress Analyst to join their multi-disciplined team.The successful candidate will have strong expertise in FEA, materials behaviour, and life assessment, with experience working on rotating and structural parts in aerospace applications.What the role of the Stress Analyst entails:Some of the main duties of the Stress Analyst will include:Lead stress analysis of assigned components, ensuring compliance with all technical, fit, form, and functional requirements.Perform detailed 2D and 3D FEA, including modelling of contact, friction interfaces, and elastic–plastic behaviour.Collaborate with global engineering and support functions (life management, heat transfer, materials, design) as needed.Interface with design engineering teams to ensure robust and optimised solutions.Support technical reviews and deliver presentations to internal and external customers (systems technical reviews, design reviews, analysis reviews).Produce Design Study Summaries / Design Record Books to substantiate and document engineering activity.Contribute to component life assessment activities (fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics).Provide input to aftermarket services and repairs where relevant.What experience you need to be the successful Stress Analyst:Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or related engineering discipline.Minimum 3 years’ experience in gas turbine stress analysis.Strong knowledge of 2D/3D stress and structural analysis of gas turbine rotating and/or static components.Proficiency in finite element modelling tools, including:ANSYS Mechanical APDL / WorkbenchMeshing tools (e.g. Hypermesh, UG NX)CAD tools (e.g. UG NX)Understanding of advanced analysis techniques: non-linear analysis, frictional contact, elastic–plastic behaviour.Experience in component life analysis (fatigue, fracture mechanics, damage tolerance).Familiarity with aftermarket services or repair engineering (advantageous).This really is a fantastic opportunity for a Stress Analyst to progress their career.
