Job Description Electronics EngineerLocation: Nottingham (Hybrid / Flexible)Salary: 50,000 - 60,000 + benefitsType: Full-time An exciting engineering hardware consultancy based in Nottingham is looking for a Electronic Design Engineer to join their collaborative team of hardware and software engineers.They work closely with customers to bring real products to life - from initial specification through to production and deployment. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role, offering exposure to a wide variety of industries, technologies, and complex technical challenges.The RoleAs a Hardware Engineer, you will take ownership of electronic hardware design across the full product lifecycle, while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams.You will:Design, prototype, and simulate electronic hardware to achieve high first-pass success on A-model designsDevelop and manage complex hardware designs, including schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout (typically 28 layers, mixed-signal)Work across a wide range of technologies, including MCU/MPU systems, RF, power (DC-DC and AC-DC), analogue sensors, digital logic, FPGAs, and memory devicesValidate, test, and debug hardware using lab equipment, with occasional travel to external test facilitiesApply Design for Testability (DFT), Design for Manufacture (DFM), and Design for Production (DFP) throughout the development lifecycleReview designs against best practice and produce clear, high-quality technical documentationProvide technical guidance and problem-solving support to customersCommunicate effectively with customers, providing updates and responding to technical queries throughout project deliveryWhat Theyre Looking ForA degree (2:1 or above) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline4+ years experience in a hardware-focused electronics design roleExperience working in a customer-facing or consultancy-based engineering environmentStrong hands-on experience in hardware design, test, and debugging using lab equipmentFamiliarity with mixed-signal and IoT-style embedded systemsSolid understanding of EMC, Design for Compliance (DoC), DFT, DFM, and DFPExperience using Altium Designer (preferred), or other eCAD tools such as Eagle, KiCad, Fusion, or PADSStrong communication skills and the ability to produce clear documentation for non-technical stakeholdersA proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage workload independently with support from team leadsWhy Apply?Work on real products from concept to productionBroad technical exposure across industries and technologiesCustomer-facing role with genuine engineering influenceHybrid and flexible workingCompetitive salary and strong benefits package, including private healthcare, pension, and life assuranceIf youre a hands-on Electronics Engineer who enjoys variety, customer interaction, and seeing products through to reality, this is a role well worth exploring.
