Job PurposeScroll down for a complete overview of what this job will require Are you the right candidate for this opportunityAs HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Technician you are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy goods vehicles to ensure they are in optimal working condition. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all repairs comply with safety regulations and standards.As we grow, we are looking for a 1 new HGV Technician to join us working 4x4 days Monday to Sunday (53,505) and 1 new HGV Technician to join us working 18:00-06:00 Monday to Thursday (52,416)Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesVehicle Maintenance & RepairsCarry out major and minor repairs on HGVs, trailers, and other fleet vehicles.Complete routine servicing, inspections, and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tyre work.MOT & Compliance PreparationPrepare fleet vehicles for MOT testing.Ensure all vehicles meet VOSA standards and regulatory requirements.Present vehicles at MOT stations on scheduled dates and times.Emergency & Breakdown SupportProvide roadside repair support for fleet vehicles when required.Diagnostics & Fault FindingDiagnose faults on fleet and customer vehicles and identify effective repair solutions.Liaise with drivers to understand reported defects and operational issues.Preventive Maintenance InspectionsConduct PMI inspections at 6-, 10-, and 12-week intervals.Accurately record findings and ensure timely follow-up actions.Manufacturing ServicesFollow and complete manufacturer service programmes in line with specifications.Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities using company systems.Complete job cards and service documentation in a timely and accurate manner.Escalate recurring or major issues to the Workshop Supervisor.Compliance, Safety & StandardsEnsure all work complies with legal requirements, industry standards, and company policies.Adhere to health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.Stay up to date with industry regulations and best practice.Ad Hoc RepairsCarry out ad hoc defect repairs as required and ensure system updates are completed accurately.RequirementsExperience & SkillsMinimum of 5 years workshop experience in a similar role (desirable).Strong practical mechanical ability and technical knowledge.Methodical, organised approach to work with strong attention to detail.Sound understanding of heavy vehicle technologies, configurations, and applications.Experience using DSC systems.Comfortable working with new and emerging vehicle technologies.QualificationsCity & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 (minimum requirement).Valid HGV licence (Category C or C+E).CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).Clean and safe driving record.Additional RequirementsGCSE-level qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent).High standards of honesty, integrity, and professionalism. xjdpvnf Flexibility to undertake additional duties of a similar nature as required by the business.
