Join our team as a Functional Skills Tutor at Pearson TQ!Are you passionate about empowering learners and shaping the future workforce? Do you have the skills to inspire and engage apprentices in their educational journey? If so, Pearson TQ has an exciting opportunity for you!About the Role:As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in delivering English and Mathematics qualifications to Royal Engineer Apprentices, as well as other Pearson TQ apprentices. Your main base will be 1 RSME, Brompton Barracks, Chatham, but you may travel to various Pearson TQ and employer sites as needed. Please note that this is a part-time role. This role involves delivering Functional Skills English or Mathematics courses from 18:00-20:00, Monday to Thursday. Additionally, administrative tasks can be undertaken during the working day or on a Friday evening. Key Responsibilities:Teaching English and/or Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications at levels 1 and 2, including conducting initial assessments and diagnostic assessmentsManage Functional Skills caseload to ensure learners complete in a timely mannerSupport and motivate trainees in their studies Ensure the learner’s e-portfolio is updated with evidence of learning, achievement, feedback, communication attempts and show the learning planComplete Speaking and Listening assessments at levels 1 and 2, including the recording of assessments and completion of Awarding Body paperworkProvide face-to-face learning support and motivate learners in their studiesComplete Tutor Rationale and Programme Plans for each learner to outline the level of Functional Skills to be completed, the course topics to be studied and achievement datesComplete Learning Session Records with each learner to document progress made and the learner journeyUpdate Individual learning plans (ILPs) and document progress made and the learner journeyMaintain accurate records as required for attendance, examinations, all assessed work and report on learner progress when requiredBook exams for apprentices and organise invigilationUndertake other specified duties including course/resource development, tutorial support and associated administrative tasksHave available an up-to-date syllabus, schemes of work and lesson plans (showing methods of delivery) for each course/class taught Prepare and use suitable teaching and learning materials for a range of courses/classes which consider differentiation and individual learning stylesUse a range of appropriate delivery methodologiesTo provide relevant Functional Skills statistical data to the management teamFollow all agreed Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Management systems and comply with all policies and procedures e.g., Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities and ensure that these policies are followed Undertake appropriate staff development activities that support personal development, ensuring your own teaching practice conforms with standards and maintain an accurate record of these activitiesAttend team meetings and undertake all assigned mandatory training as directedUndertake such other duties as may reasonably be requiredWhat We’re Looking For:Relevant teaching qualification e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or CTLLSA minimum level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics Experience of delivering Functional Skills (English and/or Mathematics) up to level 2Experience of providing face-to-face support to learners using a range of delivery methods, including the use of technologyAbility to embrace and develop practical and innovative delivery models for Functional Skills Ability to adopt contextualised Functional Skills delivery techniques to engage learnersGood ICT skillsExcellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skillsFlexible, adaptable and enthusiasticWorks well independently and in a teamFull, current driving licenceCar owner, with a willingness to use on Pearson TQ business as required (mileage allowance payable)Why Join Pearson TQ?Be part of a leading education and training provider dedicated to learner success.Work in a supportive environment that encourages professional growth and development.Enjoy a dynamic role with the opportunity to impact the lives of apprentices.If you are dedicated to delivering high-quality education and have the drive to help learners achieve their full potential, we would love to hear from you!This post is exempt from the provision of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and applicants will be expected to undertake an enhanced disclosure through the DBS.
