THE COMPANYBased in Southampton, Horizon Power & Energy is supporting the UK's transition away from fossil fuels by originating and developing large scale solar PV projects. If you are passionate about climate change and renewable energy, and have experience in delivering large scale solar projects, this may be your opportunity to join a small team focused upon the identification and development of large solar farms, solar PV car ports and commercial solar PV roofs.THE ROLEThe successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team undertaking the development and delivery of large solar PV projects, and will have personal responsibility for the following activities;Managing the full lifecycle of commercial solar PV projects (mainly solar farms), from planning and execution to final handover.Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budgetCollaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and seamless delivery.Planning and allocating resources effectively while tracking budgets to maintain financial and operational efficiency.Proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth project delivery.Leveraging data and reporting tools to track progress, resolve issues, and manage scope changes.Frequent visits to solar farm sites will be required.THE CANDIDATECandidates should possess the following skills and qualifications;2+ years experience in the successful delivery of ground mounted solar farms is essential.Experience of working in an engineering role at a DNO, solar PV EPC or Solar PV developer would be a distinct advantage.Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress.Highly skilled communicator, effective at coordinating internal and external stakeholders.An electrical or other professional engineering qualification (degree, MSc or CEng)A self starter, able to work without supervision to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks, whilst maintaining attention to detail.A collaborative individual who inspires others and drives high-quality outcomes whilst also being pragmatic and flexible in the face of uncertainty.Someone who thrives in a fast-paced environments, enjoying a hands-on approach, whilst aiming for continuous process improvement.Familiar with and qualified in relevant industry regulations, health and safety standards, and risk management practices.Skilled in managing budgets and maintaining /updating contracts and highly computer literate (MS Project, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint)SALARY & BENEFITSSalary Guide: £50,000-£,70,000 (depending on experience)5% employer pension contribution25 days holiday (plus bank holidays)TRAINING & DEVELOPMENTSuccessful applicants will complete specific relevant on-the-job training for which time will be set aside during the early stages of employment. You should expect to make a limited number of day trips to view project installations. Horizon has a strong track record of supporting staff who wish to work towards professional qualifications.LOCATION AND HOURSThe office is in The Southampton Science Park, Southampton, SO16 7NPThe working hours are 09:00 to 17:00. In addition to some home working , candidates will regularly be required to work in our Southampton office and therefore will need to be located in Hampshire or the immediate surrounding area.
