SHEQ Manager

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing and fit-out firm on the appointment of a SHEQ Manager.As the SHEQ Manager, you will ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards across a dynamic business that includes joinery manufacturing, fit-out projects, and fixture recycling operations.In your new role:Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015, and relevant UK legislation relating to joinery manufacturing and recyclingConduct regular EHS inspections across manufacturing sites, recycling facilities, and fit-out locationsDevelop, implement and monitor tailored EHS plans for woodworking, material handling, and recycling processesCreate and maintain comprehensive RAMS for machinery use, chemical handling, and site-based activitiesLead investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative actionsDeliver training sessions and toolbox talks covering woodworking safety, dust control, fire safety, and manual handlingEnsure environmental compliance with waste management and recycling regulationsImplement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving energy efficiencyMonitor indoor air quality (including VOCs and dust levels) and apply appropriate controlsMaintain all SHEQ documentation, including COSHH assessments for adhesives, finishes, and other hazardous materialsPrepare detailed compliance reports and performance updates for senior managementEnsure that all contractors and subcontractors meet SHEQ standards and submit required documentationAct as the main point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodiesSupport teams across manufacturing, recycling, and fit-out operations in embedding SHEQ values into daily practiceContribute to continuous improvement of SHEQ systems and procedures in line with ISO 14001 and 45001 standardsWhat you will need to succeed:Proven experience in a similar SHEQ or EHS role within joinery manufacturing, construction fit-out, or recycling operationsA working knowledge of COSHH, PUWER, WEEE and other relevant legislationExperience with incident reporting, RAMS, and delivering H&S trainingFamiliarity with ISO 14001 and 45001 management systemsStrong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsAn analytical approach with practical problem-solving abilitiesIT skills, including MS Office, for reporting and documentationDesirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):NEBOSH General or Construction CertificateSpecialist training in woodworking machinery safetyMembership of IOSH or IEMAExperience in air quality monitoring and sustainable practices within a manufacturing environmentFor a more detailed brief and a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with Sam Geddis, our Health and Safety Specialist today.
