BID ManagerDo you have the following skills, experience and drive to succeed in this role Find out below.Location: Newport (On-Site)Sector: Electronics Manufacturing / EngineeringSalary Excellent plus benefitsOur client is an established and expanding electronics manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced BID Manager to lead and manage its quotation and bid function.This role sits at the centre of the commercial and engineering interface, ensuring that quotations for new and existing customers are delivered accurately, competitively and on time.You will coordinate cross-functional inputs across engineering, supply chain, operations and quality to produce robust costed proposals and ensure a controlled handover into New Product Introduction (NPI). This is a senior position responsible for the performance, governance and continuous improvement of the quotation process, including pricing accuracy, cycle time and risk management.Key ResponsibilitiesBid & Quotation LeadershipLead and coordinate the bid and quotation teamDeliver accurate and timely quotations for both new and existing customersManage quotation workload planning and prioritisationReview and approve bids prior to submissionEnsure quotation packages are complete, risk-reviewed and commercially viableInterface directly with customers on technical and commercial quotation queriesCosting & Commercial AccountabilityDevelop full cost models including:Labour standardsMaterial and supply chain pricingTooling and fixturesNRE (Non-Recurring Engineering)CAPEX requirementsSubcontract servicesValidate BOM structures and manufacturing assumptions with engineering and operationsAnalyse variance between quoted and actual build costsSupport commercial management with strategic pricing decisionsData, Systems & ReportingAnalyse large BOM and pricing datasetsDevelop quotation tracking dashboards and reportingUse Power BI or similar BI tools to monitor quotation metrics and win ratesBuild Excel-based estimating tools including advanced formulae and macrosExtract structured data from ERP and CRM systemsWork with IT to improve system integration and automationCross-Functional CoordinationLead RFQ kick-off meetings with programme managers, engineering and supply chainCoordinate cross-departmental activities to meet submission deadlinesManage communication with customers during the bid processSupport sales and account teams with opportunity qualificationNPI & Operational HandoverManage transition from bid stage into New Product Introduction (NPI)Ensure manufacturing assumptions are documented and understoodProvide documentation packages required for project teamsRisk ReviewIdentify technical and supply chain risks within RFQsAssess manufacturability and cost exposureEscalate high-risk opportunitiesSupport bid / no-bid decisionsProcess & Continuous ImprovementDevelop quotation procedures, tools and work instructionsImprove quote accuracy, turnaround time and process efficiencyDevelop reporting metrics (turnaround time, win rate, margin accuracy)Improve data usage and ERP/CRM integrationTeam LeadershipRecruit, develop and manage quotation engineersConduct performance reviews and training plansProvide coaching and technical guidanceAddress performance and disciplinary issues where requiredCandidate RequirementsEssential5+ years experience in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturingExperience xjdpvnf in bid management, estimating, cost engineering or quotation managementStrong leadership and team management capabilityExcellent technical and commercial communication skillsAbility to manage multiple RFQs under tight deadlinesStrong analytical and numerical abilityAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills (data manipulation, pivot tables, complex formulas)Experience analysing structured datasets such as BOMs and cost modelsHigh attention to detail and commercial awarenessDesirableDegree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or related fieldExperience with Power BI or similar analytics toolsExcel macros / VBA experienceKnowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Epicor, IFS etc.)CRM experience (e.g., Salesforce)Understanding of electronics assembly or box-build manufacturingExperience supporting aerospace, defence, medical or industrial sectorsLean or continuous improvement experienceEligibility for security clearance advantageousAdditional InformationCandidates must have the right to work in the UK.This role requires full on-site presence in Newport.Interested - please send your CV to Gary Simpson
