Test Development Engineer

Job Title: Test Development Engineer Pay: 40k - 50k DOE Location: Newport Start Date: Immediate Shift: Monday - Thursday 08:00am - 16:30pm. Friday 07:00am - 12:30pm JDR is recruiting on behalf of a well-established electronics manufacturing client based in Newport. The Role: As a Test Development Engineer , you will play a key role in supporting production test equipment for functional testing and leading new product introductions (NPI). This is an excellent opportunity to apply and build upon your electronics hardware expertise and PCB/HLA test engineering experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The role is well suited to a driven engineer who wants their skills fully utilised and values working in a collaborative, technically focused team. Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain automated and manual test procedures for electronic assemblies Design, commission, and support test fixtures, hardware, and software for in-circuit, functional, and system-level testing Support and maintain production test equipment Lead test development activities for new product introductions (NPI) Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams to ensure testability and manufacturability Analyse test data, identify failure trends, and drive corrective actions Provide technical support and training to production test technicians and engineers Maintain accurate documentation for test procedures, equipment, and results About You: Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline Experience developing test solutions for electronic assemblies, ideally within a contract manufacturing environment Proficiency in test software development (LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C/C++) Strong understanding of electronics, PCB design, and fault-finding techniques Hands-on experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team The Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holiday (Increase with length of service) Competitive monthly pay Contributory pension scheme, including salary sacrifice options Statutory Sick Pay from day one Company Sick Pay Scheme Subsidised on-site canteen serving hot meals, snacks, and drinks Free tea, coffee, and fresh fruit available daily Free on-site parking Birthday meal voucher to celebrate your special day Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering: Access to GP services 24/7 Confidential counselling and wellbeing support Occupational Health support when needed Mental Health First Aiders available on site Cycle to Work Scheme About Us: JDR Recruitment is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
