Job Title: Justice Multi Skills TutorLocation: HMP Highpoint, SuffolkSalary: From 30,000 per annumContract: Full-Time, PermanentRole Overview:We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Vocational Tutor to join a prison-based education team at HMP Highpoint. This is an exciting opportunity to support learners who may have had minimal prior access to education, equipping them with practical vocational skills and boosting their employability prospects post-release.You will deliver engaging, hands-on training to small groups of learners in a range of trade disciplines such as construction, painting & decorating, basic plumbing, tiling or carpentry. The role involves designing individual learning plans, delivering accredited qualifications, and providing the support needed to help learners realise their goals.Key Responsibilities:Deliver accredited vocational training across multiple disciplines in line with awarding body standards.Design and implement individual learning plans (ILPs) tailored to each learners needs and aspirations.Deliver inclusive, engaging lessons that build practical skills and knowledge.Embed employability and personal development themes into vocational delivery.Track learner progress using internal systems and e-portfolios.Prepare and support learners for assessments, exams and qualifications.Manage classroom behaviour effectively and support learners with complex needs.Maintain accurate records including registers, reviews and progress updates.Contribute to curriculum planning and continuous quality improvement processes.Work collaboratively with education staff, prison personnel and external stakeholders.Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, equality, prison security and health & safety protocols.Essential/Desirable Criteria:Essential:Level 2 qualification in a relevant vocational trade (e.g. Construction, Maintenance, Multi Skills).Significant occupational experience in one or more construction or building trades.Experience delivering vocational training or workplace instruction.Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.Ability to motivate and engage learners with varied and complex needs.Commitment to safeguarding, learner welfare and equal opportunities.Desirable:Teaching qualification (e.g. Level 3 Award in Education & Training, PGCE, Cert Ed).Assessor qualification (e.g. A1, CAVA) or willingness to work towards.Experience working in a prison, secure or alternative education setting.Familiarity with Ofsted EIF and quality standards.Experience embedding employability into vocational programmes.If you do not currently hold a teaching qualification, full training and support will be provided as part of your probationary period.Benefits:30 days holiday + Bank HolidaysPension Scheme 5% employee contribution / 3%+ employer contributionCPD and progression opportunitiesSupportive team culture and structured onboardingFunded teaching qualifications and DBSJBRP1_UKTJ
