Programme Manager (SFIA 6-7)- Contract 6-7 months £525-600p/d Inside IR35-Must have experience in programme management within a Government arm-Occasional travel will be required to Newcastle for stakeholder meetings, any other travel required would be covered. Futureheads are working with a consultancy who are embarking on a joint effort between a government arm and its Finance Group, working together to spot, prioritise and deliver tech-driven savings for Finance. The aim is to quickly identify where tech and process updates can make a real difference, set out what needs to be done, then get on and make it happen – all with the target of seeing real results in Finance Group by April 2026.About the RoleA key part of the project is getting straight to work on obvious ‘quick win’ improvements – things we already know will help. Within two months, the goal is to set up teams and clear action plans so savings can be delivered within the current financial year.ResponsibilitiesFixing ongoing issues: Tackling known pain points when using digital tools, like analysts struggling with slow or tricky systems.Making more of existing tools: Helping teams get the most out of what they’ve already got with better training, including creating ‘Super Users’ from within the Finance Group who can lead the way.Bringing in current AI tools: Identifying where we can put existing AI, like the Civil Service’s Humphrey suite, to work for Finance.Connecting with people: Building good relationships all the way up to senior managers in Finance, and working with staff at every level to make sure everyone’s on board.Discovery planning: Pulling together a plan that gets things moving quickly, but still fairly, for finding and ranking the best efficiency ideas – then making sure we measure what works.Rolling out improvements: Getting stuck in with delivering and managing digital upgrades, from running training sessions to launching new services, improving the way things work now and even developing brand new tools.Bringing others in: Setting up workshops and getting the right people together for discovery work and making improvements happen.Working across teams: Coordinating with other bits of Digital to make sure Finance’s challenges are properly addressed.Upskilling Finance Group: Organising and arranging training programmes so everyone in Finance can get up to speed with new ways of working.Clear communication: Keeping everyone updated – from stakeholders to all staff – through regular newsletters and clear project updates.Managing requests and suppliers: Handling ‘front door’ queries and managing commercial engagement with outside partners.QualificationsExperience with process improvements and understanding how requirements, dependencies, and challenges fit together. Any background in working with AI would be a real plus.
