Project Design Engineer (AutoCAD)

Job Description Role DescriptionThis Project Design Engineer (AutoCAD) role is a full-time office-based position located in Newbury. In this role, you will be carrying out installation designs for our advanced climate control systems. Designs will be used to support our AV and BMS installers within commercial, residential and hospitality buildings, using AutoCAD to produce detailed layouts, system schematics, and control system designs.You will work closely with installers, distributors, and internal engineering teams to ensure that system designs meet technical requirements and customer specifications. The role combines design engineering, technical support, and system development, contributing to the delivery of reliable and innovative building control solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:Creating HVAC project designs, layouts, and control system schematics in AutoCAD for customer buildingsSupporting installers and distributors with system specification, configuration guidance, and technical queriesProviding 2nd line technical support for control systems and BMS installationsAssisting with pre-sales technical support, helping customers identify the most suitable system solutionsSupporting hardware and firmware testing and validation for new and existing productsDeveloping test rigs and demonstration panels to support engineering validation and customer demonstrationsPerforming structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis to diagnose technical issuesProducing technical documentation, system design specifications, and engineering guidance materialsAssisting with technical training sessions for installers, distributors, and internal teamsQualificationsExperience in project design and engineering, including creating technical drawings and layouts using AutoCADStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, particularly in HVAC controls and automation systemsAbility to manage multiple design tasks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teamsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailFamiliarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, or IoT-based building technologies is advantageousBachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline) or equivalent industry experienceWhat We OfferFull-time, permanent position (in-office)Direct involvement with product developmentClose collaboration with an experienced engineering teamCareer progression opportunitiesFree parkingCompany pensionCompany Bonus SchemeAbout Polar Bear DesignPolar Bear Design is a UK, Berkshire based manufacturer of smart HVAC control systems.
