Associate PlannerYork, hybrid. Full time, Permanent. £50,000 - £65,000 (DOE) Monday – FridayWe are looking for an experienced Associate Planner to play a pivotal role in leading projects and shaping successful planning outcomes for clients across a wide range of sectors. With deep knowledge of the UK planning system, you’ll lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage complex applications, and build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and authorities.As an associate planner, you will be responsible for:Lead and deliver complex planning projects, providing expert advice and high-quality submissions.Act as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring outstanding service and strong professional relationships.Represent clients at site visits, consultations, hearings, committees, and public inquiries.Manage and mentor a team of planners, supporting professional growth and technical excellence.Contribute to business development, building the client base and identifying new opportunities.Oversee project budgets, proposals, and delivery against financial targets.The ideal candidate will bring:An experienced planner with 8+ years in the private sector (consultancy or client-side).A chartered member of the RTPI (essential).A proven team leader and mentor, able to inspire and develop colleagues.Expert in UK planning legislation, processes, appeals, and applications.Skilled in strategy, negotiation, communication, and report writing.Confident in presenting and representing clients at a senior level.Strong in project and resource management, balancing deadlines and budgets effectively.Holder of a full clean driving licence.Full clean UK driving licence.Desirable: experience in the energy sector, ECU procedures, or the Scottish planning system, plus a track record in business development.
