Job Description An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction and infrastructure delivery environment. The Senior QS will take responsibility for the commercial management of one or more projects, ensuring cost control, value optimisation, and effective contractual administration throughout the project lifecycle.This role offers exposure to complex, high-value projects and the opportunity to play a key role in commercial leadership and team development.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial ManagementLead the commercial management of projects from pre-contract through to final accountPrepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reportingProduce accurate cost value reconciliations (CVR) and commercial reportsMaximise profitability while maintaining contractual and commercial complianceContract Administration & RiskAdminister contracts in line with agreed terms and conditions (e.g. NEC, JCT, bespoke forms)Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunitiesPrepare, submit, and negotiate variations, claims, interim applications, and final accountsSupport dispute avoidance and commercial resolution where requiredProcurement & Supply ChainLead procurement activities in accordance with company proceduresManage subcontractor and supplier accounts, including valuations, payments, and final accountsDevelop and maintain strong supply chain relationships to drive value and performanceStakeholder & Project SupportAct as the key commercial interface with internal project teams and external stakeholdersProvide commercial advice and guidance to site and project teamsParticipate in commercial meetings, reviews, and reporting forumsLeadership & DevelopmentSupport, mentor, and develop Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity SurveyorsPromote commercial best practice and continuous improvementEnsure adherence to internal commercial governance and proceduresHealth, Safety & EthicsPromote a strong health and safety culture within all commercial activitiesEnsure compliance with ethical standards, sustainability objectives, and responsible business practicesSkills & ExperienceEssentialProven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role within a main contracting or infrastructure environmentStrong working knowledge of construction contracts (NEC preferred)Excellent commercial, contractual, and financial management skillsExperience managing complex or high-value projectsStrong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skillsDesirableExperience within a Tier 1 or large main contractor environmentChartered status or working towards chartership (RICS, CIOB, ICES)Sector experience in infrastructure, civils, buildings, or major projectsQualificationsDegree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
