Job DescriptionRole: Maintenance Electrician - CranesLocation: MiddlesboroughRole OverviewWe are looking for a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our cranes electrical team at Middlesborough. You will be part of a dynamic engineering team responsible for the preventative maintenance, inspection, fault-finding, and repair of the ports crane assets. These include mobile harbour cranes, rubber-tyred gantry cranes, and ship-to-shore container cranes.You will respond to breakdowns and apply your technical expertise to diagnose and resolve faults safely and efficiently, minimizing disruption to port operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance and inspections on crane assetsDiagnose and repair electrical faults across various crane systemsWork with a range of electrical components and power suppliesRespond to breakdowns and ensure minimal operational impactMaintain safe working practices, including safe isolation proceduresRequired Experience & QualificationsMinimum 5 years experience in heavy industry post-apprenticeship (Essential)ONC / Level 3 qualification or equivalent (Essential); HNC/HND preferredStrong knowledge of:Electromechanical devices (solenoids, thrusters, actuators)AC/DC motors up to 400kWPower electronics (inverters, rectifiers)Motor control methods (soft start, DOL, VSDs, resistance banks, thyristors)Switching devices (relays, contactors, circuit breakers, proximity switches)Industrial communication networks:Canbus, Asibus, Profibus, Profinet, Fibre opticsPLC systems:Siemens Step5/Step7, ABB, Danfoss, CoDeSysPhysical RequirementsComfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsCapable of working at height
