“Bring structure and introduce new ways of working to an up-and-coming online retailer’s in-house home delivery function in this newly created Transport Manager role.”THE COMPANYA growing online retailer specialising in high-quality furniture and homeware. In a short space of time they have quickly become a market leader thanks to their commitment to craftsmanship and Made In UK quality standards. They run their own dedicated home delivery fleet of 20 vans serving customers across the UK with a mix of single-driver and two-person delivery teams.The business is continuing to grow and have partnered exclusively with Stephen at TALO. as they look to hire a Transport Manager to introduce better ways of working and lead the day-to-day management of the home delivery team. They have some good things in place despite being a little disorganised and non-corporate. They’re ready to embrace change and know there’ll be better ways of working that they just haven’t thought of and need someone to come in, use their knowledge to put some good processes in place. It’s a very interesting time to join the business where you can make changes quickly and shape the department as you see fit.THE ROLEAs Transport Manager, you’ll own the home delivery operation. Lead the team, keep the fleet moving, and make sure every order reaches customers on time.Manage a Transport Supervisor, a Transport Planner, and a growing team of Drivers.Oversee fleet performance, keep vehicles roadworthy, compliant, and minimise downtime.Drive high standards across the transport team from debriefs and performance reviews to safety checks and compliance monitoring.Keep the operation compliant with driver hours, working time regulations, and health 'safety requirements.Ensure the transport team is staffed with the right people, leading recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development.Look for ways to improve efficiency, reliability, and the customer delivery experience and make those improvements happen.ABOUT YOUYou’ll have proven experience running a transport operation either already as a Transport Manager or Logistics Manager or perhaps someone in a more junior role ready for a step up into a challenging role that can grow with you.
