A global leader in the design, manufacture and sale of equipment and components used in Oil & Gas drilling, Production, Industrial and Renewable Energy sectors is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Field Service Mechanical Technician to join their Service Team based in Manchester. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role is critical in delivering high-quality aftermarket support for their customers through a combination of on-site service and workshop-based activities.The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of mechanical systems including pumps, rotating equipment, and vacuum and pressure systems. This Mechanical Technician role requires a proactive individual who can manage tasks independently, respond to urgent travel requirements, and uphold the highest standards of technical service and safety compliance.Key Responsibilities: Mechanical TechnicianProvide on-site support for equipment installation, servicing, commissioning, and maintenanceUndertake workshop-based tasks as part of the aftermarket service teamPrepare and approve detailed work packs for service-related activitiesPerform mechanical completion checks, factory acceptance tests, leak and pressure testing, and electrical function/loop checksCompile and deliver detailed technical reports and service documentationDeliver aftersales support, including inspections, spare part identification, and technical consultationEnsure full compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and proceduresLiaise effectively with internal teams, including engineering and project stakeholdersMaintain accurate records and documentation using Microsoft Office applicationsTravel to customer sites across the UK and overseas, often at short notice and for extended periodsQualifications and Experience: Mechanical TechnicianCompleted recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (e.g. City & Guilds, ONC, HNC)Must hold or be able to obtain a valid CSCS cardPreferably experienced in HGV or heavy plant engineeringProficient in interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentationHands-on experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systemsWorking knowledge of wastewater and industrial systems, including familiarity with industry standards and proceduresCompetent in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)Company InformationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
