About the Role An experienced Senior Structural Engineer is required to lead the delivery of major structural engineering projects. The successful candidate will take a key technical and managerial role within the project team, working closely with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary colleagues. This is a permanent, office-based position with flexible working hours and opportunities to contribute to complex, high-impact developments from concept through to completion. It is an excellent opportunity for a chartered engineer seeking to take on greater leadership and technical responsibility. Responsibilities Technical Lead structural design for major projects, ensuring deliverables are completed to agreed timelines. Produce and oversee structural calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and reports. Provide technical guidance, direction, and support to project teams. Carry out and supervise design work in accordance with British standards and regulations, and relevant technical standards. Oversee the use of structural engineering software including AutoCAD, Revit, and analysis tools. Conduct site inspections, including BCAR-related inspections and coordination. Undertake self-checking and internal quality reviews of design outputs. Managerial Lead project teams, ensuring planning, resource management, and coordination of workloads. Mentor, support, and supervise junior engineering staff. Attend project meetings with architects, contractors, and clients to establish requirements and resolve issues. Maintain strong communication and collaboration with all project stakeholders. Contribute to project planning, programme delivery, and client liaison. Behaviour & Professional Commitment Maintain Chartered Engineer status and commit to ongoing CPD. Demonstrate a proactive, positive, and client-focused attitude. Contribute to a collaborative, supportive, and high-performance team culture. Requirements Degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent. Chartered or working towards Chartership. 710 years structural design experience within the UK construction market. Strong analytical capability and thorough understanding of structural engineering principles and materials (steel, concrete). Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ROBOT). Experience designing using the British standards. Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and support junior staff. A proactive, solution-driven attitude with a commitment to high-quality service. Desirable: Masters degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent. Own transport.
