Job DescriptionWomenswear Assistant DesignerThe RoleWere looking for a Womenswear Assistant Designer to support the owners and buyer across all areas of design and development, from initial concepts to final sample approvals. Youll help bring new ideas to life, support the creation of tech packs, manage sample tracking and ensure everything is measured and checked to spec.This is a hands-on studio-based role for someone whos confident with the basics of womenswear design and is now ready to build their skills across real collections with a brand thats growing fast.Key ResponsibilitiesWork closely with the owners and buyer to translate seasonal ideas and concepts into clear design directions.Assist with initial research, mood boards and fabric sourcingCreate and update CADs, colour-ups and range plansPrepare and update tech packs with detailed construction notes and accurate measurementsMeasure all development samples against specification sheets to ensure consistency across fitsMaintain sample organisation across fit rounds, fabric approvals, trims and supplier commentsAttend fittings and support in taking notes and communicating amends to suppliersSupport in day-to-day studio tasks such as fabric library upkeep, tracking lab dips and keeping the design space tidy and functionalCommunicate clearly with offshore suppliers via email to share design updates and follow through on commentsAbout YouA design-related degree or relevant experience in a womenswear environmentComfortable measuring samples against spec (essential)Strong understanding of garment construction especially within loungewear, jersey and soft separatesProficient in Adobe Illustrator and confident in ExcelHighly organised and detail-focused with a calm, can-do attitudeConfident sharing ideas and taking ownership of small projects or categories over timeA team player whos comfortable in a fast-paced studio and enjoys being part of a growing, tight-knit teamMust be based within commutable distance to Altrincham (this is an in-person role)
