Job Description Vehicle Mechanic Trainer Location: MOD LynehamSalary: 37,000 39,679 (DOE) + excellent benefitsThe RoleAn excellent opportunity for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Automotive Technician / HGV Technician to step into a training and instructor role at MOD Lyneham.This position is ideal for hands-on automotive professionals who enjoy mentoring others and want to pass on their technical knowledge. Youll deliver practical, workshop-based training to learners progressing into military vehicle maintenance roles, helping develop real-world mechanical, diagnostic and repair skills.No prior teaching experience is required - full support and training will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver practical vehicle maintenance and repair training in a workshop environmentTrain learners across areas such as mechanical systems, diagnostics, servicing, fault-finding and repairPrepare lesson plans, demonstrations, assessments and practical exercisesMonitor learner progress and provide coaching, feedback and additional support where requiredEnsure training content reflects current automotive technologies, tools and workshop practicesWork collaboratively with fellow Trainers, Tutors and Instructors to continuously improve deliveryIdeal BackgroundThis role would suit someone currently working as a:Vehicle MechanicAutomotive TechnicianAuto TechnicianHGV TechnicianLight Vehicle TechnicianWorkshop TechnicianMechanical EngineerREME / Military Vehicle TechnicianYoull bring:Strong hands-on experience in vehicle servicing, diagnostics and repair (LV or HGV)Solid understanding of workshop processes, tools and vehicle systemsThe ability to explain technical concepts clearly to othersConfidence using basic IT systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)An interest in training, coaching, mentoring or developing othersQualificationsNVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Engineering or similare.g. City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, IMI, Military equivalentLevel 4 Certificate in Education and Training (or willingness to work towards this fully supported)
