Corporate Health and Safety Advisor

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: 38,928 - 41,895 We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Corporate Health and Safety Advisor to lead the promotion and implementation of a strong health and safety culture across our organisation. About the Role You will play a key role in ensuring that all services operate in compliance with health and safety legislation and best practices. Working closely with managers and staff across the authority, you will provide expert advice, deliver training, conduct audits, and support continuous improvement in workplace safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement and monitor health and safety systems and policies. Provide expert guidance and support to managers across various service areas. Conduct regular health and safety audits and inspections. Investigate accidents and incidents, managing reporting processes including RIDDOR. Support service areas with health and safety expenditure planning. Represent in external health and safety forums and networks. You will also be expected to work across the district roughly 50% of the week, and will need to be available to attend emergency investigations within an hour at any point of the working week (shared among the advisors but theyd need the ability to do this). About You We are looking for a confident, experienced health and safety professional who can work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Essential: NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and CertIOSH membership. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to local government. Significant experience in advising on health and safety across office and operational environments. Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and delivering training. Excellent ICT skills, particularly with Microsoft 365. Full UK driving licence.
