Fire Safety Advisor

Job Title: Fire Safety Advisor Reports To: Senior Fire Safety Advisor Employment Type: Permanent / Full Time Location: Home-based (preferred postcodes: OX, MK, LU, HP, RG, GU, GL, SL, RH) Region: South UK Overview A leading healthcare provider is seeking a skilled Fire Safety Advisor to support fire safety compliance across its Southern region portfolio, including care homes, clinics, and offices. Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed fire risk assessments across residential care homes, clinics, and offices. Perform comprehensive fire safety surveys of passive and active systems (e.g., compartmentation, fire doors, alarms, emergency lighting). Carry out fire door surveys as required. Liaise with the Senior Fire Advisor and support fire safety projects. Coordinate with alarm contractors to verify compliance of new or modified systems with British Standards. Conduct post-fire inspections and document findings with clear justifications. Provide guidance to site managers, property teams, and contractors based on assessment outcomes. Maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. Represent the organisation in consultations with enforcing authorities and, if required, in court. Promote fire safety policies and undertake relevant training. Operate as part of the fire safety team within the property department (no direct budget or staff responsibilities). Qualifications & Training Fire risk assessment qualification (e.g., Fire Service College, NEBOSH, BTEC). Fire safety or fire engineering degree - desirable. Membership with IFE, IFSM, or similar - advantageous. Strong knowledge of: Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 Building Regulations (Approved Document B) CLG Fire Safety Guides HTM Firecode documents British Standards (e.g., BS 5839, BS 5266, BS 5306, BS 9251, BS 9999) Active and passive fire protection systems Experience Proven experience in life safety systems and fire safety compliance. Skilled in conducting and auditing fire risk assessments . Experience in structural surveys to identify fire and smoke spread risks. Background in a fire and rescue service fire safety department - beneficial. Skills & Requirements Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint . Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Full, current UK driving licence . Additional Duties Meet performance objectives and targets. Monitor and report on fire safety performance.
