About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and commercially astute In-House Litigation Counsel to join our legal team. This role is ideal for a solicitor or barrister with substantial post-qualification experience (PQE) in contentious matters, looking to transition into or continue within an in-house environment. You will be responsible for managing a broad range of disputes, regulatory investigations, and risk mitigation strategies across the business.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and advise on a wide range of contentious matters, including commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, employment claims, and reputational issues.Instruct and liaise with external counsel, ensuring cost-effective and strategic litigation management.Provide proactive legal risk assessments and develop internal policies to mitigate potential disputes.Draft and review pre-action correspondence, pleadings, witness statements, and settlement agreements.Represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings where appropriate.Collaborate with internal stakeholders including compliance, HR, finance, and operations to ensure alignment on legal strategy.Monitor legal developments and regulatory changes relevant to the business and advise accordingly.Support internal investigations and whistleblowing matters.RequirementsQualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.8–10+ years PQE, ideally with a mix of private practice and in-house experience.Strong background in commercial litigation, regulatory matters, or dispute resolution.Excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and work under pressure.Commercially minded with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., financial services, energy, healthcare) is advantageous.Desirable AttributesExperience with cross-border disputes or international arbitration.Familiarity with data protection, ESG-related litigation, or class actions.A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with a strong sense of professional ethics.
