Job DescriptionA prestigious US law firm is looking for a Senior Conflicts Lawyer to join their Risk & Compliance team based in London.The successful candidate for the Senior Conflicts Lawyer role will work closely with partners and senior stakeholders across the global network to manage complex conflict issues arising from new business intake and ongoing client matters.Key Responsibilities for the Senior Conflicts Lawyer role:Review new business intake requests, including lateral hires and client/matter onboarding, to identify and assess potential legal conflicts of interest.Lead on conflict-related elements of significant firm-wide projects such as mergers, acquisitions, and lateral recruitment.Draft, negotiate, and advise on the use of ethical walls, information barriers, and waivers where appropriate.Liaise with partners, fee earners, and business services teams globally to obtain relevant information and provide strategic conflict-related advice.Provide legal guidance and support on complex conflict situations, escalating where necessary and advising stakeholders on resolution strategies.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable professional conduct rules, regulatory changes, and internal policies across all relevant jurisdictions.Support the ongoing enhancement of internal systems, procedures, and best practices related to conflict checks and risk mitigation.Supervise or mentor more junior members of the conflicts or compliance team where applicable.Collaborate with the wider compliance function to support broader risk initiatives, including AML, sanctions, and client due diligence matters.Key Requirements:Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5+ years post-qualification experience, ideally in conflicts or risk management within a law firm.In-depth understanding of conflict of interest rules in key jurisdictions (e.g. SRA, ABA).Proven ability to assess complex conflict scenarios and provide clear, practical guidance.Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior lawyers and business leaders.This is an excellent opportunity for a legally qualified individual with substantial experience in conflict analysis and risk management to join a leading international law firm.
