About The RoleWe’re looking for an experienced and dedicated Scrub Practitioner (Orthopaedics) to join our theatres team. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality peri‑operative care and acting as a strong advocate for patients throughout their surgical journey. This role is ideal for a skilled scrub practitioner who takes pride in clinical excellence, teamwork and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to service development, support colleagues and continue to grow professionally within a well‑established theatre service. What you'll be doingDelivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care throughout the peri‑operative phase. Acting as patient advocate during the intra‑operative period. Preparing theatres and equipment in line with surgeon preferences and clinical requirements. Maintaining strict aseptic technique and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards. Scrubbing for orthopaedic procedures, ensuring accurate counts of instruments, swabs and sharps. Circulating and coordinating theatre activities to support efficient operating lists. Managing specimens, clinical waste and hazardous substances safely. Providing clear and accurate handover to the recovery team. Supporting risk management, health and safety and clinical governance processes. Contributing to teaching, supervision, audit and service improvement initiatives. What we’ll look for in youAs an NMC‑registered Nurse or HCPC‑registered Operating Department Practitioner, you will also have: Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a scrub practitioner. Proven competence in scrub practice, ideally within orthopaedics. Strong knowledge of peri‑operative standards, aseptic technique and patient safety. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast‑paced theatre environment. A flexible, positive attitude and commitment to delivering high‑quality care. What you can expect in returnA salary of up to £50,342.66 depending on your skills and experience. Work 37.5 hours over 4 days. No on‑call, no night work or working on bank holidays.
