Job Description Occupational TherapistLondon37.5hrs per week 35,000Line Management of: Therapy AssistantsReports to: Head of TherapyOccupational Therapist - Job Overview:(Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required)Take the lead role in the delivery of occupational therapyTo provide clinical effective, person-centred and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and intervention.To promote an enablement culture and approach to care within the British homeWorking Hours:5 days over 7-day period, as agreed with the manager.Occupational Therapist - Role Specific Duties:Deliver complex service activities and manage caseloads to ensure intended outcomes are delivered within agreed service standards.Responsible for providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and evaluation for all patients screened for referral, including those with complex and highly complex presentation, in a timely manner. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team as part of the team, in the planning and carrying out of treatment.Attend and participate in case conferences and ward meetings appropriate to the clinical setting.Prioritise day-to-day management of own caseload, delegating activities to the therapists as appropriate.Assess for and provide aids and adaptive equipment to increase or enable independent function, teaching compensatory techniques as required. These include but are not limited to feeding, dressing, employment and self-medication aids. Responsible for providing information and instruction for the safe use of the items provided.Occupational Therapist - Working with Others:To support the Head with aspects of team management e.g.(but not an exhaustive list)Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the serviceOccupational Therapist - Leading by Example:To contribute to the day-to-day coordination of the physiotherapy service within and have responsibility for the management and delivery of a physiotherapy service to a neurological caseloadTo be aware of funding arrangements for all residents.Occupational Therapist - Personal Responsibilities:Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by the managementTo be responsible for maintaining own HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist and for continued professional development to meet the requirements of Clinical Governance.To keep up to date with national and local guidance policies including new legislation pertinent to OT.Occupational Therapist - GeneralBe responsible for the safe use of equipment used in carrying out therapy duties and report any hazards or defects for repair through the appropriate channelsMaintain good relationships with other multi-professional visiting the homeExperience of working with a range of partner organisations.Knowledge of the enabling approach to support people to meet their full potentialEvidence of continuous professional developmentTo comply with all statutory requirement and legislation i.e. Health & Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Environmental Health etcThis job description is not exhaustive and you may be required to undertake other duties commensurate with your position at the request of the Director of Care or person in charge of the home.It is a condition of employment that this post is subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check.Values-Based Personal QualitiesArea Specific RequirementIndividualInvolve residents, families, external agencies and colleaguesSpeak up when things go wrongRehabilitationUnderstand person-centred care and can demonstrate treating people as individuals and respecting choicesPromoting independence and encouraging appropriate risk takingIntegrity , Diversity, Openness and HonestyEnsuring no one is discriminated or excludedUnderstand human rights and Impact on care deliveryFacilitating people to speak up about concerns and acting upon themTalent & EnergyStriving for quality in everything we do recognising and understanding what quality in care means for people using this serviceBeing accepting on criticism and focusing on improvingBeing open to new opportunities for learning and identifying the limits of skill and knowledgeHeart of their CareTreating people with kindnessUnderstanding the importance of empathy in all areas of employmentUnderstanding the values of others and always providing a caring serviceHighest StandardsFocus on how thing could be done better and sharing ideasUnderstanding wellbeing and what is important to people using this serviceImproving outcomes for peopleEnsuring appropriate services are provided for people using the servicesJBRP1_UKTJ
