Through our protective security arm, we provideadvice and guidance to government, businesses and otherorganisations about how to keep themselves safe. A role in MI5 meansyoull do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouragingenvironment, making a real difference to UK national security.The roleAs an on-site Occupational Health Advisor, youll play a crucial part inprotecting and promoting the health and wellbeing of colleagues. Withopportunities for career development and plenty of unique challenges,youll enjoy variety and autonomy as you ensure your colleagues areable to complete their mission-critical work safely.Day to day, youll manage casework, support employees with existinghealth conditions, and help teams to build a culture that prioritisesphysical and mental health. Youll collaborate with a multi-disciplinarynteam, working with colleagues from Wellbeing, Safety and Psychology,as well as other healthcare professionals. With the chance to focus on individual cases, youll support our peoplewith advice on how to manage their health conditions in the workplace,while providing travel clearances, risk assessments, health surveillance,and fitness for work medicals.Your advice will be relevant and timely,and your recommendations will be in line with medical standards andlegislation.Youll also have opportunities to shadow different teams across theorganisation(s) to better understand how to support our colleagues,while working with partners, such as HR, to provide the best possibleservice. Due to the nature of this role, there is no home working available.However, we offer a range of flexible working options including part-time, compressed hours and job share. Youll have flexibility in yourstart and finish times, as long as youre present on-site for our corehours and willing to work as part of the team to ensure cover. Youll beemployed by MI5, but if you join us in Cheltenham, youll be based andwork predominantly with people at GCHQ. Occasional UK travel may berequired and, if youre interested, international travel may also be anoption depending on business needs.About youYou will be a qualified Occupational Health Advisor, registered withNMC Part 1, with good knowledge of occupational health andemployment legislation. Youll have experience managing diverse andcomplex caseloads, including physical and mental health surveillance,risk assessments, and fitness for work medicals. And youll be able tonmake evidence-based decisions and provide effective, practicalsolutions.Youll also have an ability to analyse issues and use your strongattention to detail and organisational skills to deliver a prompt andefficient service. With excellent interpersonal skills and clear writtenand verbal communication, youll be able to effectively engage andcollaborate with employees, partners and management.Training and developmentWhen you start, youll get an organisation induction and a buddy to helpyou settle in.
