Job Description Chartered Senior Engineer Surface & Highways StructuresLocation: London & across networkEmployer: Morson Edge Recruiting on behalf of a major public sector organisationContract: Long-term contract opportunity (current portfolio has years of programmes)Rate: Band 3+ (senior level) upto 520 per day umbrella inside ir35About the RoleMorson Edge are proud to partner with a major public sector infrastructure organisation to recruit an experienced Charered Senior Engineer to support the delivery and assurance of complex civil and structural works across their Surface & Highways Structures portfolio.This is a delivery-focused, site-based engineering role where you will provide technical leadership, undertake independent assurance of permanent works, and guide B3 Engineers across a wide range of structural and highways projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead independent inspection and technical assurance of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, and highways structures.Verify permanent works against design, specifications, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).Oversee and support B3 Engineers and other site-based staff.Review contractor ITPs, method statements and technical submissions.Identify, escalate and manage non-conformances and quality issues.Liaise with design, delivery and assurance teams to resolve technical queries.Support temporary works processes and TWC/TWS interfaces.Produce accurate daily shift reports and support engineering handover documentation.Represent engineering at coordination, quality and readiness meetings.Essential ExperienceStrong background in reinforced concrete delivery or inspection.Experience with structural steelwork installations.Proven experience in highways structures, waterproofing, and surfacing works.Knowledge of construction assurance processes and client-side inspection.Experience reviewing and applying ITPs, RAMS, and technical specifications.Understanding of temporary works processes (TWC/TWS).Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards, legislation, and best practice.Experience mentoring or supervising engineering staff.Desirable ExperienceExperience working as a Works Examiner or similar assurance role.Experience delivering complex structural steelwork packages.Qualifications MandatoryChartered Engineer (CEng) with either: The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), orThe Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)HNC / BEng / MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).CSCS cardValid driving licenceSSSTS or SMSTSHighly DesirableConfined space trainingWorking at height / harness trainingCITB Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or evidence of working at that levelWhy Join?Opportunity to play a key role in delivering essential public infrastructure.Work across a varied and complex structural portfolio.Join a growing engineering team with strong technical leadership.Long-term contract security through Morson Edge.How to ApplyIf you're a Chartered Engineer with strong structural and highways experience and want to join a high-performing team delivering major infrastructure works, we'd love to hear from you.Apply directly via Morson Edge or reach out to JBRP1_UKTJ
