Job Description Technical Engineer Fleet Technical Support (TSG)Location: Heathrow Area, London (Onsite)Employment Type: Permanent | Shift-BasedSector: Aviation Engineering | Technical Support | AerospaceOverviewOur client is seeking a Technical Engineer to join their Fleet Technical Support Group (TSG) within a large-scale aviation engineering organisation. This role offers a unique opportunity to support a complex, diverse commercial aircraft fleet operating across a global network.Based at a major UK aviation hub, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced operational environment, providing specialist technical support, driving aircraft reliability, and contributing to safety, performance, and cost-efficiency initiatives. This position is well suited to licensed aircraft engineers or experienced technical support professionals looking to progress within fleet-level engineering and technical management.ResponsibilitiesImprove aircraft technical performance through proactive use of aircraft health monitoring and prognostic toolsConduct repetitive defect analysis, reliability reviews, and safety investigationsProvide specialist on-site technical support in accordance with regulatory, safety, operational, and commercial requirementsAnalyse and manage safety reports and recurring technical issuesSource and interpret approved maintenance data to support safe maintenance, repair, and modification activitiesEnsure compliance with established technical procedures to meet fleet performance, safety, and cost targetsSupport AOG recovery and minimise technical delays across line stationsCoordinate and support technical activity across operational locationsLead and contribute to technical discussions across departments, supporting informed decision-makingDevelop clear work instructions to support certifying engineers with fault isolation and complianceContribute to continuous improvement, process simplification, and change initiativesSupport business development and operational improvement projects aligned with the wider business planRequirementsEssentialHNC / HND (or equivalent) in Aerospace EngineeringEligibility to hold and exercise EASA Part 145 Technical Engineer and/or Part 21 approvals as requiredStrong understanding of safety and quality management systemsProven experience within an operational aviation engineering environmentStrong analytical and technical decision-making capabilityExcellent communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situationsDesirableB1 and/or B2 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (without type rating)Degree-level qualification in Engineering or equivalent professional experienceExperience working in Part 21 and/or Part M environments supporting Part 145 operationsRecognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or equivalent industry experienceAbility to hold CAA or company-specific technical approvalsGood technical knowledge of multiple commercial aircraft typesExperience in supplier and stakeholder managementKey Skills & CompetenciesAircraft systems knowledge (mechanical and avionics)Project management and task prioritisationReport writing and business case developmentStakeholder engagement and influencing skillsStrong business and operational awarenessAbility to manage change and drive continuous improvementCustomer-focused mindset with a fleet-wide operational perspectiveBenefitsStructured career development and progression opportunitiesAccess to specialist training, including aircraft type and manufacturer systems trainingOngoing professional development through self-study and structured learning programmesExposure to one of the most technically diverse commercial aircraft fleetsOpportunity to work in a high-performance engineering culture supporting global operationsCompetitive reward package, including travel-related benefitsWorking PatternShift-based roleCurrent pattern: 12-hour shifts on a rotating cycleFlexibility and commitment to fleet-wide operational support are essentialApplication ProcessInterested candidates are encouraged to apply with an up-to-date CV highlighting relevant technical support, fleet engineering, and aviation maintenance experience.
