Test Automation Lead

Job DescriptionTest Automation LeadA leading retailer are looking for Test Automation Lead to play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of all web, mobile, and enterprise-level applications. As the Test Automation Lead you will be hands on, overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the automated testing solutions using the latest test frameworks and tools, while ensuring adherence to quality standards and agreed processes as defined by the Test Strategy.As a Test Automation lead you will define and implement the automation testing roadmap and vision, whilst leading, coaching and grow a team of test automation engineers to build resilient suites covering regression, functional, API, performance and security tests.Role, Skills and Experience Deep hands-on expertise with open-source frameworks (eg Playwright, Selenium, Appium, Cypress) and at least one commercial solution (eg, UFT, Tosca, Ranorex). Architect and maintain scalable automation frameworks (eg Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, Cypress). Assess and integrate paid-for solutions (eg, Tricentis Tosca, TestIm and Browserstack) alongside open-source tools. Establish guidelines for selecting the right tool or combination for API, UI, performance, and security testing. Oversee the development, review, and maintenance of automated test suites covering regression, smoke, and functional tests. Ensure test coverage across web, mobile, Back End services, and third-party integrations. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (eg, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Jenkins). Deliver key quality metrics (pass rates, defect leakage, test cycle time) and report insights to stakeholders. Stay current with emerging trends-AI-driven testing, containerised testing and test data management. Pilot new automation capabilities to reduce manual effort and increase test reliability. Experience with performance testing tools (eg Neoload, JMeter, Gatling). Knowledge of BDD/TDD approaches (eg, Cucumber, SpecFlow). Familiarity with cloud testing environments (AWS, Azure, GCP). Proficiency with test management tools (eg qTest, Azure DevOps, Browserstack).
