We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Physicist to join our Medical Physics team at The London Clinic. We are offering a competitive inclusive salary of 62,978 - 73,997 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities located in the heart of London's medical community around Harley Street. We hold an 'Excellent' Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) for our cancer centre, the Duchess of Devonshire Wing. The Medical Physics department supports the provision of radiotherapy utilising on-site state of the art equipment. The department operates two matched Varian Truebeam linear accelerators and an Accuray Cyberknife. Imaging support is provided by an in-house CTSim, 3T MRI and PET/CT. Treatment planning is performed using the Eclipse and Precision planning systems with ARIA R&V system. The service supports stereotactic radiotherapy with Varian HyperArc, motion management including Varian RPM and Surface-guided functionality. Job Profile: The Senior Staff Physicist will contribute to a team providing comprehensive radiotherapy physics support, including routine quality assurance (QA) for two Varian Truebeam linear accelerators, a dedicated CT-Simulator and a Cyberknife system, alongside treatment planning system (TPS) QA and general daily physics support. A key element of this role involves leading the management of imaging systems within the radiation oncology service, specifically for CT Simulator and Varian on-board imaging. This encompasses directing departmental QA, commissioning new imaging equipment, developing and optimising imaging protocols and delivering comprehensive education and training. The Senior Staff Physicist will ensure the safe and effective delivery of radiotherapy treatments and imaging, and will also be expected to support, conduct, and publish research. Job Type: Permanent, Full Time. Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Job Location: Duchess of Devonshire Wing, 22 Devonshire Place, W1G 6JA. Salary: 62,978 - 73,997 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Key Duties: To act (or work toward qualification) as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) supporting the Radiotherapy department. To take a lead responsibility for the calibration of imaging equipment within the department (e.g. CT Simulator, Varian OBI, Cyberknife imaging) and development of the appropriate policies and protocols. Perform and advise on dosimetry measurements on patients. Provide complex advice to clinical staff and support developments in in-vivo dosimetry and imaging. Undertake, where competent, routine quality assurance for departmental treatment, imaging and dosimetry equipment. Assist in the maintenance of equipment calibration and dosimetric calibration chain. Interact with engineers, manufacturers and third-party suppliers to assess equipment status, fault reporting and new equipment development. Create or review and approve treatment plans, dose calculations, immobilisation devices, shielding, dosimetry measurements and quality assurance records produced by other members of staff, as needed. Undertake the independent second check of radiotherapy treatment plans. Support departmental training, dissemination of knowledge and contribution to wider research and publication. Skills & Experience: BSc in Physics (2:1 or higher), MSc in Medical Physics (or UK recognised equivalent), and State registration as a Clinical Scientist (with HCPC) or eligibility to register. Experience working in a clinical setting or a hospital environment, with private radiotherapy healthcare experience desirable. Demonstrable experience of good scientific practice. Practical experience of a wide range of radiotherapy equipment, techniques and practice, including VMAT and IGRT. Practical experience of SRS/SBRT, SGRT and gating desirable. Excellent communication abilities, communicating effectively with consultants, peers, associated staff and trainees, and a caring approach to patients. Leadership/supervision experience desirable.
