British Sign Language / English Translator The role We are looking for a qualified British Sign Language / English Translator (in-house) to deliver BSL translations and in-vision interpreting for our external communications. The role is maternity cover for approximately nine months. What you'll do - Strategic planning and delivery - leading our in-house BSL translation work to increase the accessibility of our information and services. - BSL translation and in-vision interpretation - preparing and creating BSL videos and providing 'in-vision' translation for video content. - Filming - setting up a professional home filming studio, including a green screen, lighting and camera, and managing the filming independently. - Leading an internal group of BSL presenters - providing training, feedback and ongoing support. The role will involve working closely with a BSL / English interpreter. What you'll need - Level 6 Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting and Translation. - Valid NRCPD registration. - Proven experience of in-vision interpretation and BSL translation , including green screen video production . - Experience of independently managing the recording of translations without a camera operator. - Excellent organisation and time-management skills , with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. - The ability to both work on your own initiative and collaborate effectively. - A sound understanding of Agile values and principles or willingness to learn. - A criminal record check / DBS disclosure (if offered the position).
