The role This is a key role within our Marine Sustainable Management Team, driving forward collaborative work to deliver the sustainable management of marine natural resources. The postholder will work across multiple teams within NRW, as well as with external partners and stakeholder groups, to deliver high-quality specialist advice and guidance. The role focuses on ensuring marine and coastal issues are addressed effectively and integrated into both NRW's and others' marine and coastal plans and strategies. It also promotes opportunities to enhance marine and coastal wellbeing, supporting NRW's responsibilities under the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (2015) and contributing to the implementation of Welsh Government's Natural Resources Policy. As a Senior Marine Advisor, you will drive collaborative projects, champion innovative approaches, and build strong relationships across Wales to achieve positive outcomes for our seas and the communities that depend on them. As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date. What you will do Coordinate the workstreams emanating from implementation of the Marine SMNR and other policies and programmes, working collaboratively with EPP marine advisors, Operations marine teams, and all other relevant staff across NRW including providing significant input to the Coast and Seas Partnership Cymru work programme. Raise awareness of marine and coastal issues, opportunities and gaps, and ensure they are effectively and appropriately recognised and addressed in well-being plans and well-being assessments recognising this work will be delivered differently and scaled back. Developing and maintaining an understanding of the priorities and activities identified and provide expert technical advice on opportunities to integrate these with other areas of marine and coastal operational delivery. Provide expert technical and specialist marine and coastal input to the development of policy and programmes, including synthesis of the complex evidence base, further development of the evidence base (e.g. maps), advice and guidance to support SMNR. Lead on research and projects to support the delivery and review of marine policy and programme implementation and manage related budgets. Work collaboratively with all People and Places team leads to ensure marine and coastal issues are effectively and appropriately addressed in their work. Build positive relationships and networks, working collaboratively and building partnerships. Embed key delivery issues and evidence in stakeholders' own plans and programmes. Develop and deliver coastal/marine projects that can support the objectives of Well-being plans and identify potential funding mechanisms to deliver the work. Support delivery of NRW's Marine and NRM Programmes and Service Plans and provide specialist advice and updates to relevant Boards and senior manager. Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post. Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method. Substantial experience in provision of specialist technical marine advice relating to marine and/or coastal natural resource/environmental management, at a regional or all-Wales level. Strong project management, matrix management, work planning and prioritisation skills. Ability to communicate complex specialist advice and information clearly to multiple audiences. Good analytical and research skills. Proven ability in building positive, collaborative working relationships and networks, both internally within an organisation and externally with stakeholders.
