An established construction and refurbishment contractor in Essex is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a range of commercial projects, including refurbishments, strip-out, fit-out and general building works. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong site presence, excellent client-facing ability, and the confidence to manage projects from pre-start to completion. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, commercially aware, and technically capable, with strong IT skills and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-moving environment. A trade background or practical construction experience is preferred. Key Responsibilities Manage multiple commercial construction projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and to a high standard. Act as the main point of contact for clients, maintaining professional, positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, site teams and suppliers; ensure clear communication and smooth project flow. Prepare and maintain project documentation including programmes, RAMS, meeting minutes, progress reports and commercial records. Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts and variations; support commercial decision-making and cost control. Conduct site inspections, manage health 'safety compliance, and ensure adherence to CDM requirements. Schedule materials, labour and equipment; ensure effective procurement and resource planning. Utilise strong IT skills to update reports, manage documentation, communicate with stakeholders and track project progress. Required Experience & Skills Proven experience delivering commercial construction projects, including refurbishment, strip-out and fit-out works. Excellent client-facing and communication skills; personable, confident and professional. Strong IT literacy: Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Teams), project planning tools and digital reporting systems. Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, valuations and variations. Hands-on approach with the ability to be 'boots on the ground' and lead onsite activities. Solid understanding of health 'safety, risk management and construction regulations. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
