JOB DETAILS Argon Business Systems is growing, and were looking for a capable and client-focused 2nd Line Technical Consultant to join our technical team. This role sits at the heart of our service operation, supporting our 1st line analysts with escalations while also working closely with 3rd line engineers on project delivery, infrastructure improvements and policy changes. You'll act as the link between desktop support and back-end infrastructure, so youll need solid experience across Microsoft technologies and the confidence to take ownership of more complex issues. Most support is delivered remotely, but there will be times where site visits are needed. We take pride in delivering a professional, friendly service so were looking for someone who combines technical ability with strong communication and a customer-first approach. Typical working hours are a 37.5-hour week Monday to Friday and need to cover the hours of 8am and 6pm.However, we are committed to supporting a work-life balance and are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, including part-time hours or alternative schedules, during the interview process. What youll be doing Handling escalations from the 1st line/service desk team Supporting the 3rd line team with IT projects, infrastructure work and technical changes Administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Entra, AD, Group Policy, Intune, Defender and related services Providing support across Microsoft 365, Windows desktop OS, Office applications and Apple devices Troubleshooting hardware, peripherals, networking basics and mobile devices Assisting with RDS/virtual environments Delivering occasional on-site support when remote work isnt an option Sharing knowledge, mentoring team members and contributing to better internal processes SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED What youll bring Around 4+ years experience in an IT support environment, with at least a year in a 2nd line role Strong skills across Microsoft services, ideally with certifications such as MD-102 or MS-102 Confidence supporting Windows OS, M365 apps, hardware diagnostics and general troubleshooting A grounding in networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, basic configuration and fault-finding Experience with Microsoft Server OS for basic admin tasks A clear, logical approach to problem-solving under pressure Strong communication and customer service skills A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn and willingness to help others Full clean driving licence (required) Ability to meet security-vetting requirements & DBS We value candidates with AI literacy individuals who are curious about technology, comfortable exploring automation, and eager to contribute to a modern, forward-thinking business.
