Job: Tool Pre-Setter Technician Pay: 26 (PAYE) | 34 (Umbrella) Location: Oxford, UK Contract: 3x Months Rolling Department: Machine Shop Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tool Pre-Setter Technician to join a leading Formula 1 Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation, building, and pre-setting of CNC spindle tool assemblies to support the teams metallic production operations. This role is key to ensuring efficient tool management, maintaining high standards of precision and quality, and supporting continuous improvement across machining processes. Key Responsibilities: Manage the booking in/out of cutter tooling, tool holders, ancillary components, and fixtures to maintain efficient inventory control aligned with 5S principles. Inspect and validate used cutter tooling to maximise tool life, reduce waste, and control tooling costs. Prepare and sign off job packs in line with the production schedule to maximise spindle capacity. Build and pre-set CNC spindle tool assemblies according to part-specific work instructions. Collect and deliver complete job packs (including tools, fixtures, and materials) to production areas as required. Disassemble CNC spindle tool assemblies following production runs. Manage storage, organisation, and maintenance of spindle tool assemblies and associated equipment. Track and monitor the condition of CNC spindle tool holders, collets, and driven tooling units. Manage workholding fixture inventory and ad-hoc cutter tooling requirements. Ensure accurate data capture and compliance with internal manufacturing systems and procedures. Skills & Experience: Strong technical knowledge of cutter tooling, assemblies, and machining processes. Proven experience within a CNC machining or tool pre-setting environment. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and 5S principles. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
