Contract Senior Service Designer

Senior Service Designer | up to 650/day (Inside IR35) | 4-Month Initial Contract | London - Hybrid We are seeking an experienced Senior Service Designer to lead and shape end-to-end public service design as part of a major government transformation programme. This is a hands-on role where you'll help design and develop large-scale digital services, translating user needs into actionable solutions while working closely with a highly technical team. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop complex services, taking into account both user needs and organisational requirements. Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders. Translate insights from interviews and research into clear, compelling service design solutions. Work collaboratively with interaction designers, analysts, and data engineers to prototype and implement service concepts. Use tools like Figma (or other design software) to bring service visions to life. Document service blueprints, storyboards, and journey maps to communicate ideas effectively. Operate in agile, multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to digital service delivery. Required Skills & Experience: Extensive experience in service design, UX, or interaction design. Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and understand complex organisational contexts. Strong facilitation and storytelling skills to communicate design decisions. Comfortable working with technical teams and understanding data-driven projects. Experience in agile environments and multi-disciplinary teams. Ability to work with spreadsheets, numerical information, and translate it into design insights. Desirable: Experience across the full service lifecycle (discovery to live). Experience working with UK government departments, public sector, or non-profit organisations. Candidates must submit a portfolio showcasing their process , not just the final outcomes.
