What you'll be doingBalfour Beatty Living Places has created an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Living Places business unit in Lincoln. Role Purpose• Manage all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from initial calculations to final figures. • Minimise project costs and enhance value for money while maintaining standards and quality. • Typically, be a Chartered Member of RICS, ICES, or CIOB. • Manage and mentor a small team of less experienced commercial staff. Main Accountabilities:Order information and systematically check data. Critically appraise, estimate, and negotiate with third parties. Review complex contract programmes such as Time-Location. Assist with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes. Monitor subcontract activities, measure, and respond appropriately. Analyze commercial progress and report to senior project staff. Manage commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders. Prepare procurement programmes and develop strategies. Analyze rates & prices, and agree on variations and compensation events. Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims when required. Prepare internal reports, commercial progress, and financial reconciliations. Manage HR/People aspects for direct and indirect reports. Support the development of others through professional mentoring. Produce plans for team goal achievement. Support recruitment of lower grades. Undertake constructability analyses using construction programmes. Qualifications & Experience:BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience. Membership of RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or working towards). Desired Qualities/Experience:Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Leadership qualities. Achievement-oriented with a focus on results.
