Were looking for a knowledgeable and highly motivated Technical Manager to join our Design & Quality Team. This is a part-time role of 30 hours a week, which can be worked flexibly over 4 or 5 days, supporting an excellent worklife balance while playing a vital role in delivering high-quality homes.This is a hybrid role based in either of our offices in Letchworth, Hertfordshire or High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. You will be expected to attend the office/s 2 days per week with the remainder worked remotely or at home. Together, were building a better future.About the RoleYoull support our New Business, Regeneration, Delivery and Aftercare teams to ensure every new home meets our standards for design, quality, safety and compliance. As our technical expert, youll advise across the development life-cycle, helping maintain safe sites, resolve risks early and deliver consistently high-quality homes.A key part of the role is overseeing our Clerk of Works (CoW) function, ensuring effective site inspections, strong performance reporting and proactive defect prevention. Youll analyse trends, drive quality improvements and help enhance customer satisfaction and long-term asset performance.Youll be involved at all stagesfrom technical due diligence and specification reviews through construction monitoring, snagging, handover and early aftercarebringing together design, construction, compliance and customer-focused insight to support excellent project outcomes.About YouYou role-model our values through professionalism, clear communication and a strong social purpose. Youre confident challenging constructively and providing clear, practical advice.Key Accountabilities, you will:Support the Head of Design & Quality with risk management, progress updates and KPI reporting.Complete technical due diligence for new opportunities, including scheme, specification and drawing reviews.Provide technical input to S106, land led, regeneration and package deal schemes through to handover.Help identify and manage contractual and construction-related risks.Manage professional service providers, especially the Clerk of Works, ensuring consistent quality monitoring.Oversee (and support re-procurement of) the CoW framework, including performance and KPI reporting.Assist in procuring and managing consultants, including CDM Coordinators.Monitor quality control, review CoW reports and escalate issues, including site visits as required.Represent Paradigm at snagging benchmarks, handovers and defect inspections.Coordinate specialist inspections (e.g. Fire Engineers, M&E, Timber Frame).Ensure compliance, via inspections where required, meets SettleParadigm standards before completionInvestigate defects post-completion, propose solutions and coordinate remedial work.Support the Aftercare Team with defect triage and investigations.Arrange or conduct familiarisation visits and share technical information with internal teams.Support Asset Management with year-two warranty issues.Ensure client choices and agreed specifications are correctly delivered.Report any departures from contract specifications.Ensure a high level of build quality and Health & Safety standards are achievedAssist in preparing Employers Requirements and contract documentation.Champion Health & Safety compliance and continuous improvement across colleagues and supply chain.What Success Looks LikeHomes consistently meet or exceed regulatory, design and quality standards. Strong build quality and high Health & Safety standards across all schemes.Fewer defects and high customer satisfaction at handover and beyond. Reduced life-cycle costs through better design and delivery.What Youll NeedMust havesDegree-level qualification in a construction-related discipline or equivalent experience, with significant practical and theoretical construction experienceStrong residential development experience (housing association or house-builder)Good knowledge and understanding of Building RegulationsCollaborative approach with Compliance, Asset Management and H&S teams and strong teamwork skills with an improvement-focused mindsetStrong understanding of architectural/technical requirements and development processesUp-to-date construction process and contract knowledgeKnowledge of development contracts, compliance and Health & SafetyUnderstanding of NHBC and warranty provider requirementsUnderstanding of Net Zero and its impact on housingAbility to inspect works against drawings, standards and regulationsHighly organised, methodical and process-drivenExcellent written and verbal communicationNumerate with strong analytical skillsFull driving licence, own transport and willingness to travel to sites and meetingsNice to havesPostgraduate qualification or professional membership (CIOB, RICS, RIBA)Experience with various development contract formsExperience improving contract performanceKnowledge of the social housing sectorBenefitsAt SettleParadigm, we believe in creating an environment where our people feel valued, supported, and inspired to grow.
