Overview of the post To work as part of the Grove Community Hub co-ordinating and developing the Community Caf. Main responsibilities and duties To: 1. Manage the storage and distribution of goods: Working with the Grove team to ensure food safety practices are adhered to and robust systems are in place to capture stock deliveries, storage, rotation and distribution. 2. Manage collection and delivery of goods to ensure the shelves are stocked with the items required to meet the menu needs of the Caf. Managing relationships and contracts with external suppliers. 3. Manage, monitor and develop procedures for effective food safety and hygiene. 4. Coordinate staff (initially 1 counter asst.) to ensure the cafe is staffed during advertised opening hours and food preparation and quality is of a consistently high standard 5. Extend the reach of the Caf by working with a range of organisations and Businesses to establish a larger custom base. 6. Develop, implement and maintain effective monitoring and recording systems: capturing and recording data to demonstrate the reach of the Cafe, food sold, and food wasted.Provide reports and other information as required. 7. Support the Service Manager to maintain accurate budgets and financial records Key holder responsibilities including opening up and closing down and ensuring the caf is secure at all times. 9. Prepare and serve food and hot drinks for cafe and catering customers, on and off site 10. Uphold the highest standards of health and safety, cleanliness and professionalism and use your own initiative to respond quickly to issues or challenges that may arise when you are on duty. 11. Check that all caf facilities, equipment, or furnishings are kept in good working order and report any damage to the Service Manager. 12. Work with staff, including the wider Grove team, to devise menu plans and special offers. 13. Using the Groves accountancy procedures, ensure the completion of daily financial paperwork and cash handling and that all expenditure is reconciled. 14. Be responsible for the smooth running of the caf during events, which includes catering, hosting and late-night opening, working with Reception and Cleaning teams. 15. Respond promptly and professionally to any customer feedback, comments or complaints. General Duties: 16. Attend and participate in team meetings, training and events that ensure the effective sharing of information and co-ordination the teams activities. 17. Undertake administrative and maintenance duties that assist in the smooth running of the Caf. This will include taking collective responsibility in relation to matters of health and safety, equipment maintenance, data protection and confidentiality management; and visitor service and care. 18. Ensure that all Cafe activities & events are undertaken in line with the legal requirements and b-inspired policy, procedures and good practice. This includes the production of risk assessments and other data that can demonstrate effective and safe planning. 19. Work outside normal office hours and at weekends as and when required. 20. To ensure promotion and implementation of The Braunstone Foundations policies in relation to Equalities; to ensure that buildings, equipment and facilities are managed in a safe and effective way in line with Health and safety requirements. 21. Person Specification Qualifications and Experience (E= Essential / D= Desirable) Full and clean UK driving Licence - E Experience of working in the charitable/voluntary sector E Experience of working in a busy environment E Experience of working in a frontline customer facing role E Experience of recruitment, training and management of volunteers & Staff D Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety in Catering E Previous experience of managing/coordinating a Caf E Barista trained D Cash/card management experience E Experience of working in events D Knowledge A good understanding of current health 'safety guidelines. E Implementation of food safety and hygiene procedures E Knowledge of working in a community centre environment, including young people and their families.
