Job Description Job Title: Senior Children's Law Solicitor LeedsDepartment: Family / Divorce & Children LawLocation: LeedsLevel: Senior (7+ years PQE)Role OverviewAn experienced Private Law Children's Solicitor is required to take on a senior leadership role within a Family Department, specialising in complex children matters. The role involves leading the Childrens team in Leeds, acting as a senior figure within the department, and contributing to the strategic growth and development of the practice area.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead and oversee the Childrens team, providing direction and acting as a senior point of expertiseSupervise, mentor, and support solicitors, trainees, paralegals, and support staffEnsure effective delegation, workload management, and quality control across mattersConduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development supportCaseworkManage a caseload of complex private law children matters independentlyProvide strategic oversight on high-value and sensitive casesEnsure appropriate risk management and case progression throughoutBusiness DevelopmentDrive and support business development initiatives within the teamBuild and maintain strong client and professional referral relationshipsIdentify opportunities for growth and contribute to the expansion of the practice areaSupport marketing and networking activitiesFinancial & Operational ManagementMonitor billing, lock-up, and debt management within the teamOversee work allocation and ensure efficient utilisation of resourcesContribute to and support delivery of departmental strategy and financial targetsBalance chargeable and non-chargeable commitments effectivelyCompliance & RiskOversee high-risk matters within the team and ensure appropriate escalation where necessaryPromote strong ethical standards and compliance with regulatory requirementsLiaise with compliance teams on complaints, claims, or risk issuesKey Skills & ExperienceMinimum 7 years PQE in Private Law Children mattersStrong technical expertise in complex family law casesProven leadership and team management experienceExcellent communication and client care skills, particularly in sensitive mattersStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing prioritiesCommercial awareness with an understanding of financial and operational performancePersonal AttributesProfessional, empathetic, and client-focused approachStrong leadership presence with the ability to motivate othersCollaborative team player with a proactive mindsetHigh level of integrity and commitment to quality service deliveryCalm and resilient when managing complex and sensitive casesIf this role is of interest to you and you hold relevant experience please get in touch with Steph at Simpson Judge for more information, [email protected]
