TAKE A BOW DEVELOPMENT TRUST Scottish Charity Number: SC049066JOB TITLE: ASN CoordinatorSALARY: £27,000LOCATION: Take A Bow, Dunbar Drive, Kilmarnock, KA3 7PRRESPONSIBLE TO: Youth & Community Manager ***This post is funded by Fairer Life Chances from the National Lottery Community Fund ***Fantastic new opportunity for an Additional Support Needs (ASN) Coordinator to join the team at Take a Bow in Kilmarnock Job Role/Description Our ASN Coordinator will be passionate and experienced in developing and delivering a range of programmes/activities to support those living with additional needs to achieve their full potential. The ASN Coordinator will be responsible for leading and coordinating inclusive performing arts classes and programmes, offering person centred support across core skill areas including life skills, personal development, employability support as well as providing information support and guidance to parents and carers.The individual will be responsible for building a network of referrers and partners, having overall responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of our ASN projects. They will be able build trusting relationships with individuals with disabilities while supporting them to develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence to achieve their goals. The post holder will have experience of engaging with individuals with disabilities and facilitating groups. They will have excellent people and relationship building skills, be well organised and able to work on their own initiative. With a 'can-do' attitude, they will take the initiative and be trained in working with those with additional support needs, creative in problem solving and project delivery.This role will be key to ensuring that all strategies and action plans relating to achieving positive outcomes our for customers are translated into meaningful and tangible outcomes. The ASN Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development of the Trust’s vision. As part of the whole team, helping lead Take A Bow Development Trust into the next phase of its development.Key responsibilities: Partnerships ❖ In collaboration with the local community within which we operate; the community groups that we work with; our participants; staff team and volunteers, to contribute and support the organisations vision and to enable the organisation to achieve its purpose❖ Collaborate with external organisations and key partners to engage with individuals in need of further support and assess individual’s needs, care plans and review progress❖ Work closely with our Community Coordinator and Youth Development Team to develop external relationships and support the development of a youth project to suit the needs of young peopleCommunication ❖ To develop and maintain effective communication links with local people in the community in which we operate❖ Have the ability to adapt communication styles and meet the individual needs of our Participants❖ To develop and maintain effective communication and foster partnerships with a variety of organisations❖ Clear consistent communication with the Chief Executive officer(s), reporting all aspects of organisation development regularlyProject development and delivery ❖ Plan, co-ordinate and facilitate performing arts sessions tailored to young people and adults with additional support needs❖ Support the development of core skills including literacy, numeracy, communication and confidence through a range of creative and practical approaches❖ Deliver and manage activities created to focus on developing independence and social inclusion❖ Create and adapt resources to suit a diverse range of needs and abilities❖ Manage caseloads effectively. Providing one-to-one support, guidance, and progression for all young people. ❖ Adopt a multi-agency approach and refer individuals to local provision that will develop their skills further ❖ Ensure delivery is of high quality with appropriate content and opportunities ❖ Develop and deliver sessions with colleagues, partners, and volunteers, ensuring appropriate content that meets the needs of people engaging ❖ To encourage local creativity, vibrancy, and diversity ensuring all activities promote dignity, respect and empowerment in line with inclusion principles❖ To support and develop services in accordance with the aims of Take A Bow Development TrustMonitoring and Evaluation ❖ Comply with the requirements of our safeguarding policies❖ Data recording including information on young people, vulnerable adults, volunteers & partners – capturing at each stage of their journey and that financial processing are undertaken accurately enabling robust impact assessment, delivery of funding contracts and the effective use of our resources❖ Ensure the key outcome and the project targets are met and the budget is spent accordingly. About the ideal candidate – please note this is an extensive list and we don’t expect you to have all of these experiences/skills – we welcome applications from enthusiastic and relevant candidates who have at least some of the following:• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred, plus two years of directly related experience working with individuals with additional needs - An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted, as long as it directly relates to the essential duties and responsibilities. • Experience or training working with individuals with complex support needs e.g. physical, sensory, communication and learning challenges• Ability to build rapport and establish appropriate relationships with young people• Knowledge of safeguarding practices• Knowledge of health and safety procedures • Knowledge of local organisations and provisions for young people • Knowledge of inclusive communication strategies people & a wide range of partners • Ability to develop and deliver high quality learning and development sessions • A strong understanding of the challenges and barriers individuals with disabilities face • Ability to come up with new ideas and create sessions plans • Demonstrate knowledge of the local services accessible to ASN individuals inc. education, training, and employment provision • Demonstrate BSL, Makaton, Visual support e.g. PECS or social stories• Training in positive behaviour support/ de-escalation techniques• Experience of delivering group work and providing 1:1 support to ASN individuals• Experience of delivering skills development sessions to individuals • Experience of building and supporting relationships with external organisations• Experience of working accurately and with good attention to detail• Experience of working to targets and key performance indicators • Proven experience of managing projects and successfully achieving their outcomes, including strong decision-making capabilities, ability to manage multiple demands and to meet deadlinesPersonal skills and Qualities • The ability to listen, communicate and engage with the local community, staff, and volunteers in a meaningful way• Innovative, creative, and forward thinker• Comfortable networking and representing Take A Bow Development Trust at public engagements• Excellent verbal and written skills • An ability to articulate the organisations vision to a wide range of stakeholdersTake A Bow Development Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
