The firm is known for delivering high-quality legal services with a client-focused approach and offers a supportive and collaborative working environment.The RoleThis role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a busy public family law team specialising in childcare matters. You will support solicitors representing parents and other parties in care proceedings and related applications, much of which is legally aided.Key ResponsibilitiesAssisting fee earners with a caseload of public law children matters, including care proceedings, supervision orders, emergency protection orders, and adoption-related applicationsSupporting cases funded by legal aid, including assisting with Legal Aid Agency applications and complianceDrafting correspondence, statements, court applications, and other legal documentsPreparing court bundles and trial documentation in accordance with court directionsLiaising with clients, counsel, local authorities, experts, and court staffAttending client meetings, conferences with counsel, and hearings where appropriate, taking detailed notesMaintaining accurate and up-to-date file records in line with regulatory and legal aid requirementsProviding general administrative and case management support to the team.RequirementsPrevious experience in family law, ideally within public law children workFamiliarity with care proceedings and Legal Aid Agency processes is highly desirableStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlinesExcellent communication skills and a sensitive, professional approach when dealing with vulnerable clientsAbility to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentGood IT skills, including experience with case management systemsA genuine interest in pursuing a career in family law, particularly publicly funded worBenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits packageOpportunities for career progression and professional developmentSupportive and friendly team environmentExposure to high-quality and varied family law workIf this is of interest, please get in touch with Rory Brand at Simpson Judge today for a highly confidential chat.
